Kambo Info and Guide

Kambo is the skin secretion of the Giant Monkey Tree Frog phyllomedusa bicolor.
This secretion is applied directly into the lymphatic system via burn gates in the
epidermis. We make the burns using a hot incense and then wipe away the top
layer of skin to create a open gate where the kambo can be applied. Treatments
involve a deep physical and energetic cleansing of the body that can be used to
treat a number of conditions ranging from depression, physical illness, CFS,
auto-immune, migraines, laziness, chronic pain, infections or toxins, Parkinsons,
Alzheimers, cancer, diabetes and other issues. It is especially helpful for
getting through big blockages, resistance or creating big breakthroughs.
For thousands of years Kambo has been used in the Amazon by tribal people as a powerful
purgative and medicine. Treatments with this medicine are often challenging but very powerful
and effective. During the height of the experience it is common to feel sick and weak as toxins are purged from the body - this phase usually lasts about 20-40 minutes. After the purgative phase it is common to have a short 20 minute rest and then there is an abundance of energy and focus in most cases and it is common to feel healthier and more energized then normal. Many people work with kambo to overcome laziness or panema and seek this heightened level of energy and focus.

Travis Bodick is trained in safe and effective treatments of Kambo. All of our medicine is sourced locally from the Matses tribe in Peru helping support their way of life. Our first concern with kambo is always safety - and when proper safety precautions are observed this medicine is extremely safe. Because of our concern for your safety we do have a list of contraindications as well as a list of cautions:
Contraindications:
• Pregnant or breast feeding mothers with babies under one year
• Stroke, aneurysm, brain hemorrhage, blood clots
• Serious heart conditions, including surgeries or an enlarged heart
• Extremely low blood pressure that is controlled by medication
• Recent surgery or serious wounds, externally or internally not fully healed
• History of serious head injury resulting in blood on the brain
• History of rupture or injury of the esophagus
• Chemotherapy or radiation treatments 4weeks prior or 6months following
• Recent user of diuretics or immunosuppressant medications
• History of serious mental health conditions, except for depression
• Cognitive disorders preventing the understanding of kambo
Cautions:
• Severe eating disorders
• Menstrual flow OK, but will increase for 24-36 hours
• Alcohol or recreational drugs within 24 hours
• Certain herbal or nootropic (smart drug) supplements
• Asthma OK, but must have an inhaler present
• Diabetes OK, but fasting exceptions made if required
• If you have any major acute or chronic mental or physical illness please consult with practitioner

Treatments can be done at anytime but are especially nice during the morning as we ask you to do a short dry fast (no food or water) for 12 hours, and it is easier to do this while you sleep! A treatment usually takes a few hours as we want you to arrive, get settled and have some time to talk about your health history as well as your goals with kambo. We also sometimes offer rapé before the session (optional but very nice before kambo). The session itself will take about 20-30 minutes in most cases though some people will have a longer reaction if there is a lot of cleansing needed. Afterwards it is recommended to rest 20-30 minutes.
After the treatment it is best if you dont have a strenuous day planned - some time to relax and process is helpful. Spending time with family, relaxing at home or being in nature is ideal. Let yourself recover and get a good nights sleep and you will feel fantastic afterwards!
Rapé is sometimes offered during kambo treatments. Rapé is a powdered snuff made from tobacco and tree ash which is blown into the nose via a blow-pipe. Rapé can be used for many purposes including cleansing harmful energies, centering and focusing the mind and body, and much more. Using this medicine with kambo can help create a deeper treatment, though this medicine is not required to experience kambo.
Frequency of treatments:
Some people may want to start with just one treatment and this is fine. Some people may wish to start with 3 treatments within a single moon cycle (28 days). Kambo always helps cleanse the body of illness but there are some traditions saying that 3 treatments in a single moon cycle can act as a natural vaccine against infections, colds and flu's. 3 sessions in close proximity seems to offer the deepest and longest lasting benefits. Alternatively, in cases of extreme chronic illness sometimes it is helpful to do weekly treatments until the issues is healed.
